:::Blayne - reflux ?:::

I saw that you have been dealing with reflux in your LO, and i am curious to know what her symptoms were that made you think it was reflux? Our pediatrician gave us a perscription for reflux since C has been so fussy, but he isn't sure if that's actually the problem.

Re: :::Blayne - reflux ?:::

  • She was initially crying in her sleep and would not sleep flat on her back, but would sleep if she was a little bit upright.  One big giveaway is if he arches his back when he is crying, the doctor says that stretches the esophagus and somehow makes it feel better.  A few weeks ago she was waking up several times a night, but when she fell asleep in her swing she slept through the night, so I knew that if the upright position helped her it must be her reflux.

  • Also, she was spitting up a LOT, sometimes projectile.  But they don't always do that, sometimes they swallow what comes up.
  • okay, thanks! We are trying to narrow down what is causing C to cry and not sleep well, etc. He definitely has a lot of the symptoms that they describe as being reflux so hopefully this medicine will help. My mom keeps saying that he is still hungry but i just can't imagine that being the issue as he eats so much, but i am going to attempt to pump and see how much I am getting in one sitting to help gage how much he is eating ... but he is up to almost 11 pounds so I can't imagine its that he isn't getting enough to eat.
  • B used to nurse almost constantly and I suspected that she was hurting and didn't know the difference between the pain from the reflux and hunger pain. Good luck I hope it helps! I also recommend trying to get him to sleep upright.
