Losing your MP, a question (TMI maybe)??

So, yesterday before leaving for L&D I started bleeding (dark brown) DH and I both assumed it was my MP which was one of the main reasons why we went to L&D as well.   The nurse did do an internal, she also told me she saw the blood and wasn't too concerned.

I have now been bleeding (only when I wipe) since yesterday AM. Is this normal when losing you MP??  Last night it did get "gooie" so I thought it was over, but this AM its still going. And I guess my second question is what does it REALLy mean to lose your MP? The books say not much just my body's way of getting ready for labor. But, I could still have weeks before labor actually starts right???

  • I was in labor when I lost mine, so I'm not much help. During one of my contractions I lost a glob of mucus and blood.

I know some people lose it and don't go into labor for awhile, but the continued bleeding is a little strange. Have you talked to your OB? I'd ask them about the continued bleeding.

  • This past Sunday night I had an increase in discharge and lost part of my MP but it wasn't tinged with blood. On Monday, nothing and nothing the rest of the week.

I would call your OB, my OB told me to call if I had any bleeding whatsoever.

Is the blood still dark brown? I lost my MP one week before going into labor, and it was first a gooey snot-like booger in my panties, but for several days I streaked dark brown. The nurse said if it's dark brown it's OK, as long as it's not bright red.
