Juice ???

At what point did you or will you give LO juice?

We give DS water in his sippy to get him use to using it, but haven't given him any juice yet.  His DCP told me the state says he has to get juice at 8 months and I told her we didnt' want him having it yet.  I just don't see the need.  So we agreed I would let her know when he could have some apple juice mixed with water. 

That was about a month ago, fast forward to today and I'm reading his little sheet she writes out for him everyday and yesterdays snack says crackers and OJ.  Maybe I'm over reacting, but I really had no plans to give him OJ yet, apple juice if anything.  Would you be upset?

I was told no orange juice until a year.

Did you tell them just water and not juice? If I had, I would be upset. IF not, I would be concerned they didn't know the recommendations of no citrus till a year old. I'd at least ask about it and express your wishes regarding juice.

i wasn't aware that the state can dictate that your child needs juice..?

Seriously, what is the big deal about juice??? If it's fruit juice with no added sugar, how is it any different from feeding them fruit?  I always put a splash of apple juice in DS's sippy cup, it gives him incentive to drink from it.  Why do people think juice is so bad?

Yes I would be upset. OJ is very acidic and I don't see it being great for a baby. DD didn't even get any juice til she turned 1 and now it's 2 oz white grape juice mixed w/ 6 oz of water and when it's gone she gets plain water. I kow waaaay to many kids addicted to juice. I would definantly ask them about it and remind them that you don't him to have juice.

Daycare facilities have really strict guidelines from the USDA(i think it's this organization) about what to feed the children while they are in their care. It would seem weird though that they are required to give juice.

OP I would be upset about it. I probably would not freak out on them or anything but I would definitely talk to them about it.

I see no problem with it..but that is MO  I think that if you told them no, then you should talk to them..But I am pretty laid back as to what Noah eats.  Within reason of course..but I am sure they didnt give him a lot..probably just a few drinks.
