Hi!  We're considering the name Emberlin for Lucy's middle name.  I absolutely love it!  I know it is unusual.  I'm not worried about that, but it does make me wonder what other people's immediate responses to it would be.  What are your thoughts & responses?  Thanks so much, Ladies!

When I saw the post title I thought it was a fn and immediately thought not a fan!!  But I think it sounds pretty as a middle name to Lucy..and I really feel like mns should be sort of anything goes.  If your child ends up hating it, not many people will ever even ask them their mn so go for something you love there!  So i vote YESSSS for Lucy Emberlin

It certainly fits all of the current trends. That makes me think that it will sound very dated very quickly ? think Krystle from the '80s.

Same here.  For a FN, hells no.  But very nice for a MN.  I think the two go well together - Lucy is classic and girly and Emberline is fun and funky

I agree with everyone!  Lucy Emberlin is cute!  But Emberlin should never be a fn.

I don't have anything against interesting middle names, so this doesn't show up on my "oh please lord, don't let them name their children that" radar. What's the story behind it?

Also, my first image was of Berlin on fire. Ember is one of my favorite words, so I see it as a word with a name suffix to make it more name-like. It's not spelled cr8ively with random ish thrown in.

ETA: Okay, now that I said it outloud it sounds like Lucy In Berlin.

Ember and Emberlyn/Emberlin are the two "made up" names I do like, so I say go for it. I really like the sound of Lucy Emberlin, although I think Emberline and Aubriana go beautifully together.

We're planning to do it Emberlin - pronounced like Ember - Lynn.  The meaning even goes with Lucy

Lucy - light or bringer of light

Emberlin - Pretty little flame

Unlike the others I have liked this name for a long time as a FN. It's so different, but I really think it's sweet as a MN for Lucy.
