DH called tonight. It's the first time I've gotten to hear his voice since he left last week, and the first time I've talked to him at all in 3-4 days. Not that 3-4 days is a long time (it's really not compared to some of the deployments we've been through) but I miss him.
Nathan didn't want to talk he just wanted to eat since it was dinner time. I gave Riley the phone though and she talked to DH for several minutes. She told him all about her new shoes, and "CoCo" (Chloe aka Little Dog), and the "key" (kitty... she was talking about the guinea pig we saw yesterday at the childcare center), and who knows what else she was babbling on about.
When she gave the phone back to me DH was crying.
But he was very happy to talk to her for a while. I think this year is going to be a lot harder on him than it is on me. I don't know how he handles being away from them for so long. I sure as hell couldn't do it.
Re: It was a good night
I'm glad he got to hear all about her days.
<<hugs>>
Aw, that made me tear up!
Also, it baffles my mind that Riley can have minutes long conversations now. That's just insane.
I know it's so incredibly hard for all 4 of you. I would never be able to do something like that, so I greatly appreciate all you and your H do for this country.
I teared up when you said he was crying. I have a feeling there's going to be one hell of a coming home celebration in about a year.
Oh you can't understand 90% of what she says, especially if you're on the other end of a phone, but I could figure it out by the few words that she does know and say, what she was pointing at. Plus she's been talking about that damn guinea pig, aka "key," since we left the CDC yesterday. LOL
