My incredibly sweet aunt sent me a $25 Amazon gift card to buy some entertainment while I'm on bed rest. There are several items of baby gear and books that I've been wanting to buy for months but couldn't justify spending money on, but that seems too utilitarian. On the other hand, I could buy a fun book, but there's nothing I really want to read and that seems like a waste. And yes, I'm aware that this is an absolutely awesome "problem" to have ![]()

Re: WWBOTBD Clicky Poll: Amazon gift card
I would pick the baby books. Might as well get ready.
I didn't know you were on bedrest.
For how long? I have some fun books I can send you to keep you occupied.

Just until 35 weeks for now, though there's talk about extending it to 37 weeks. I go back to the doctor next Wednesday, so hopefully I'll find out then.

I would try to find a baby book and a fun book in paperback that would come out to be less than $25 (or close if you're willing to pay a little of your own money). That way you have some preparation material for LO, but also some fun reading when the baby stuff gets boring or overwhelming (it almost always does at some point). Pretty sure most stuff is free shipping with $25, so you should be good there.
As to what book ... I love silly, trashy series books for when I'm not wanting to exert mental effort. Sookie Stackhouse and Stephanie Plum series are both nice brain candy that you can probably get on the cheap (I think they retail for like $7 in paperback). You could pick a couple and still afford a reasonably priced baby book.
Or you could get something like Harry Potter (if you don't already own them) which is a nice length for the price (and addictive as hell) and can be saved for when LO gets a bit older.

I would only get a baby book if you're actually going to read it, otherwise you should just get something fun.
People magazine puts out book reviews that I tend to like so I usually see what they are recommending. They are not too heavy and usually a breezy chick lit read.
