Babies on the Brain

Does this sound like a terrible idea?

I posted on 0-3 about how to keep LO from sliding/wiggling to the foot of the crib when elevating one side and it was suggested to use the boppy to position her.  I just put her down for a nap with it around her feet.  It comes up just past her waist and is nowhere near her face.  She is wrapped up in her woombie so I don't see any way she could double over on herself and smash her face into it and suffocate.  It seems safe/fine but is there something I am missing?  The big NO SLEEP warning on it keeps flashing in my mind.  As an added bonus she went straight to sleep instead to kicking her legs around for 10-15 min first.  Who knows if this is the meds working or the boppy though.

Re: Does this sound like a terrible idea?

  • I dont think it sounds bad but I know when Riley was little I would always put her in the crib at the bottom.

  • Um.  K used to nap in his boppy.

  • The problem is the incline isn't as much at the bottom so her head isn't elevated as much.  Plus she isn't just down there, she's smashed against the rails, and since she is such a wiggly sleeper that means she is kicking them.
  • I think as long as the boppy is not around her face she is fine. My SIL let my niece sleep in her crib in the boppy almost like a pillow.
  • She's fine. So fine that your description of her in a woombie doubled over with her face in the boppy made me giggle, even though it included the word suffocate. That's how completely impossible it is.
