Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Yogurt??

I have been making my LO's food and I was looking at wholesome website. I wanted to give her more things. Yogurt is okay right?

She will be 7 months on the 16th of August.  Could I just give her some with her cereal?  I heard Yo Baby is good, any other kinds?

Thanks!  Should I call her doctor to check or is this just fine?

Re: Yogurt??

  • I've heard that the "full fat" yogurts like YoBaby are fine after 7 months. I bought some banana flavored YoBaby for Frankie just yesterday! I can't wait for her to try it.

  • We buy Dannon, plain, full fat in 36 oz tub.  DD, DH and I all eat it.  I don't see the point in spending all the extra money for special yogurt for her.  As long as there's no flavoring it doesn't add 15 more ingredients.  And as long as it's full fat, she's getting plenty of calories to fill her belly.

  • we started yogurt a couple weeks ago.  i do the yobaby plain (the vanilla is double the sugar) and mix in a little fruit puree.  P loves it with peaches or bananas.

our pedi said you could also do fage greek full fat or stoneyfield organic full fat.

(i choose the yobaby because it has organic sugars, but the others are fine to use as well, it is really your choice.)

Our pedi said we could give Lukas yogurt after 6 months and it is now his favorite food! I am not a big fan of Yo Baby since it has sugar added (why does yogurt need added sugar???) so I give him either the Fage Greek or the Stoneyfield Organic full fat yogurt. I usually mix in fruit but Lukas will eat it plain too.

  • I use Astro Balkan style yogurt.  It is plain, and full fat.  NO SUGAR!!!

I add fruit purees, Georgia loves it.
