It's been said here a lot- when the name is SAID, how it's spelled doesn't play into it. I finally "witnessed" this recently.
Grayson. Or Gracen/Gracyn for a girl. I never really "felt" it for a girl, but yet, those spellings to make it look more feminine.
But then at the park one day, woman called out "grayson" after her DD and it made me wince, to be honest. It just doesn't SOUND like a girls name at all and it didn't matter how she spelled it - it just sounds wrong for a girl.

That is a really good point. As a teacher, it's hard to meet a new student with a name you think is a boy's name, only to find a girl...SURPRISE.
I think people forget how it will be said/heard. That's why I have tried out my LO's potential name out loud around the house a lot.

Let this be a lesson - people will mock you for your cre8ive spelling. Even if it's not to your face.
