NPR: What time is too early to cut grass?

I really need to get it done and it gets hot as hell pretty quick here. What time would cause you to cuss the neighbors out?

  • Anything before 8 I'd have to go beat some ass.
  • I hear it here around 7:30am

  • I think here you the city says 8 am is fine.  On a weekday I go by that on the weekend I wait until 9 just to be nice to the neighbors.  I know the yard services here start at 8 am because they are next door and start right as the clock turns 8.
  • My neighbors like to mow at 3 am.  They do it on a regular basis.  It wakes the kids up and I call the Cops and they stop for a few weeks and then they do it again.  I can't wait to move.  I would say anytime after 7 am is appropriate.

  • I'd probably say 8am.  It's not super-early, and hopefully they would understand how crazy-hot it is as it gets later in the day...my hubby is literally dripping when he comes in from doing yardwork these days.

  • 3 a.m.?! Wth? I think I'll go with 8. I should be able to finish by the time pest control comes and Amarah & I can head on out. Thanks!

  • I'd say 8, too.  but, 'round these parts... my neighbors would probably thank us for even mowing at all.  My DH has not mowed since a week ago this past Sunday.  He didn't mow this past Sunday b/c we had friends over who helped us move DD's big girl furniture to storage and painted the baby's room, etc, etc.  he was supposed to do it today, but ended up napping and watching NCIS reruns all afternoon.  I took the girls to Bible Class tonight and told him the Yard better be mowed when I got home.

Was it?  Why, hell no.  He decided to organize his screws and nails in this cool new divider he got.  "Why did't he weed-eat", you ask?  Oh, because he needed a special oil or something.  But, see, he knew he needed that special gas/oil because he was out of 10 days when he didn't freaking weed-eat when he last mowed the yard.  So, yeah, my yard hasn't been weed-eat(ed?) in almost 3 weeks.

Good think we don't have HOA around here, or we'd be screwed.  I seriously thought about posting an ugly note to my own front door to give him a hint.

ugh!  Sorry to hijack your post and vent, but screaming at him did no good once the sun went down.

  • I am up at 5:30, so anything after that. Ha ha! No, really, I'd say 8 or 9.
