Using same name & opinions!

We have awhile to go... I know!

 My cousin has a daughter and she used our grandmother's name as the middle name.  We were thinking of doing the same thing.  I was VERY close with my grandmother; she was basically like a second mom.  Do you think I should ask her about using the middle name or just do it, if we have a girl?

My aunt, her daughter (my cousin) and I all have middle name Marie.  It doesn't bother anybody in our family.

Both middle names to honor the same woman? I don't see a problem with it - it's a middle name.

I'm curious about the spelling of Analee. This is the closest I could find....

My cousin and I have the same middle name because we are named after the same person.  It's not that big of a deal.

I named my son after my grandpa, I have a lot of cousins and we were all close with him, I just assume its an eventuality that someone else will also use it. Another cousin used my grandma's name as their DD's first name, it is my middle name and should I have a girl it will also be her middle name.

Agree w/ pp ? honoring your grandmother with a middle name is sweet and I don't think anyone will mind that there are two namesakes in your family.

I also agree that Analee Pearl is pretty bad. It sounds like a sex toy.

All I see when I look at Analee is the word ANAL.

That is all I see now too!  My H and I cracking up at it!  He didn't love it anyway, so he's not sad to see it out of the mix... on to find a new girl fn!

I like Carter Michael a lot.

Agree with pp that Analee Pearl sounds like a sex toy.  Sorry.

Also agree with pp that it's fine to use the middle name.  My 11yo sister is Laura Katharina (my grandma is Katharina).  I am very close to my grandma and will name LO after her (Alexa Katharina) if LO is a girl.

With family names I say just use it - no need to ask.

Carter Michael flows very well. 

I am sorry to third Analee Pearl as a sex toy... sorry, Analee is just not good. I think the mn is fine, too- for one its just a middle name, and two its a family name from a woman who meant a lot to you. Go for it.

Can I suggest just Anna as a first name? Anna Pearl is so gorgeous and classic, and Anna is so underused. Annabelle also might be a good alternative to Analee.

Every boy born after my grandpa passed away has been given his name as their mn. I think it is a great way to honor your grandmother and I love the name Pearl.

Dh's nephew's name is Marshall  (which was DH's dads middle name and he has passed away)...it's also the name of our college.

 We plan to name our son Benjamin Marshall...and we don't particularly care how they feel about that.

Just do it. She was your grandmother, too. Your cousin can hardly claim her name.

I like Carter Michael. Not a fan of Analee, but Pearl is lovely.
