My TMI, overly dramatical cousin has this as a FB status (context: her dog is older and unhealthy and might be nearing the end):

"What's the point of having pets if they give you a lifetime of loyalty and then leave you?"

Um...that "lifetime of loyalty" thing. That's the point. I know my dogs will die one day. That doesn't mean I find it pointless to have them now.

Weird.

Like I said. Overly dramatical.

    Uh, yeah.  I bet she has a problem with marriage and the whole "til death do us part" thing, too.

    That's too bad that she feels that way.  I guess that is where the "It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" quote comes from.  Your life is better for all the loves that have come into your life whether they were short term or long term.
