Charlotte? I love it because it is classic and it's also a family name. I'm not big into nicknames, but I think Lottie and/or Charlie are very cute nicknames. I don't know anyone IRL that is named Charlotte, but I've seen it on the bump here and there. WDYT?
Re: Is this name becoming too popular?
In 2009, it was #68. Keep in mind that even the #1 baby name of any given year actually only amounts to about 20,000 - 30,000 kids out of 4 million.
So by the time you get to 68, it's going to be far fewer kids w/ that name.

I think it is becoming more and more popular. It has been moving up the charts quite a bit in the last few years. That said, I love the name though and would definitely still use it! I don't care for the nicknames though. Charlotte is so beautiful, classic and feminine, and the nicknames just ... aren't.
ETA: I personally know one younger Charlotte (who is 3).

I don't get Charlotte = farmer, unless the thought process relates to Charlotte's web?!
Charlotte is a beautiful name. It is DD's mn and named for my grandmother.
Last year, Charlotte was ranked #68 and 4,140 baby girls were given the name. Dividing that between all 50 states, comes out to 82.8. So, not really all that popular; she certainly wouldn't be one of three Charlottes in her class.
That said, I think it's popularity is going to be much higher on the 2010 lists when they come out in May. I have seen preliminary 2010 lists from three sources so far and Charlotte has ranked 1st or 2nd on all three.
I do think it's a beautiful name, though. I love Lottie as a nickname.
I asked the same question a few days ago. Here's the link

I think it will always be slightly popular just because its a great name
I don't know any LOs with that name personally.

It's climbing the SSA charts - currently at 68. I know of one baby Charlotte, but it is a name that comes up here quite a bit. Don't forget though that this is a national board and that you're not likely to meet all these little Charlottes. On the flip side it is a SATC name (like Samantha and Aidan) that has taken off. Is it destined for the top ten...maybe, but if you love it, then use it.
This reminds me - Name Berry had a few blog posts where they did the top Name Berry names. Quite a difference between those names and the names that end up on birth certificates

DD #2 is Charlotte. I have a 3 year old DD also. At no point in daycare/ pre school / classes we took, etc with either of my girls, have I ever run into another Charlotte. In fact, people always comment on what a different name it is and how it's nice to hear something besides the top 10 names.
I also have found that once you name your child any name, you tend to hear it more. My DD #1's name is Reagan. I can't tell you how many other Reagan's I've run into since she was born. Actually, I've met more Reagan's than Charlotte's to be honest....

Charlotte is at the top of my list right now, and yes, it's very popular right now, definitely here. But as stated by some others, when you really look at the numbers, your future daughter is unlikely to be among a sea of Charlotte's.
I say use it if you love it, and Lottie is ADORABLE in my opinion.
This exact question was just asked a couple days ago...
We are naming our daughter Charlotte.
I know that it seems to be gaining somewhat in popularity according to this board but I don't know a single Charlotte IRL. It is also not popular at all in the area where we live so we weren't concerned.
I love the name Charlotte. And we happen to be farmers...which I suppose validates the above statement.
