I wonder if people that are trying to "unique" their childrens names that its still a name other people are going to have...their version just looks ridiculous.....

This reminds me of a kid I grew up with: his parents named him J. Pronounced just like Jay but I guess they were too lazy to write out the additional letters. Awful :P
I do not understand the unique spelling of names that people give to their kids right now. Why would you want your kid to go through life forever spelling their name to everyone?
making up names is one thing, but I can't stand when they're supposed to be pronounced differently than how they look. of course my name is made up and sounds nothing like it looks like it should so I don't really have room to talk

I was perusing the SSA site today for possible names. I have a rule that a name cannot be above #500 on the SSA list for me to consider it.
OMG, the horrid misspellings of names from #500-1000 made me want to be ill. And I have only looked at the boys side so far.
