Northern California Babies

yay I won! Now what?

Stopped by Goore's last weekend to pick up a portable potty to take to the fair and happened on a big display/drawing weekend.  I entered and won, yay!  However, I won a Combi Corroco infant carseat...and I have a 2 year old and no infants expected soon :)

I can't decide what to do with it.  I suppose I could sell it on CL and use the $$ toward decorating J's BBR.  It's really nice and would be an upgrade from the Graco Safeseat that we have from J's baby days so I'm also considering keeping it for future kiddos even though it wouldn't be used for another few years.

WWYD?

  • I would totally CL it.  I am in clearing out mode and am getting rid of anything we don't really really want or need right now, or in the next 12 monhts (like Xmas decor, winter gear, etc).

Us too.  We will be moving sometime soonish as well, so all things are getting boxed up that won't be used soon.  It feels a little funny keeping the not so nice graco carseat and giving this one up...there is a reason my garage is a disaster area ;)

    It's a $200 carseat, should I list for $180?

  • I think CL is the best bet. $180 sounds fair. I'd make sure that I'd mention that it's brand new, never been used, still in box. I'd also do an internet search to see if you can find it for a lower price. If I find an item on CL that's still available in stores, I always search online. If it doesn't at least meet the lowest price, I won't buy it.

Did you happen to ask the store if they would just give you store credit instead of the item?

This was my thought as well.  If they won't do it, I would either CL it or donate it and claim it on my taxes.

  • Sure did.  However, I don't think I asked a person of any authority and she said well isn't it nice you won anything?  And...she's right, lol, so I thanked her and left.

Looks like you can get it for $160 somewhere + tax.  So $180 might be too high, even if it is $200 at Goores.

  • I would verify that you can't get a gift card for the amount it is worth or exchange it for something you can use now.  Otherwise, if you really think it is much better than your first one, why not sell that one on CL and then keep this new one?
  • (I'm dipping my toe in on the Bump from the warm Nestie waters) You could return it to a different store that sells it for store credit (since you won't have a receipt) like Target or Babies R Us. Then you can use store credit at a different store to get whatever you need.

Target and BRU both require receipts to return items like that.
