Lean Cuisines/Healthy Choice?

Do you guys think it's okay that I'm still choosing to eat these for lunch?  Obviously, they promote weight loss, but I eat them because they are quick and easy and not as bad for you as a frozen Marie Callendar dinner.  Plus, I figure eating carrots and celery promote weight loss too, but those are encouraged.  I know it's not the same thing....but just thought I'd ask!

Re: Lean Cuisines/Healthy Choice?

  • I don't think that it is that big of deal as long as you are eating when you are hungry.

Like I may eat a cup of soup for lunch but then I will most likely eat again at about 3-3:30.

  • Are you asking if they're ok to eat because they are "diet" foods and you are not supposed to diet? As long as you are getting enough calories in a day, these are good to eat. I try to limit frozen dinners bc of salt content, but I just had a Healthy Choice Steamer for lunch today. Low in fat, high in protein. Just make sure you are eating a well balanced diet throughout the day with sufficient calories.

ETA: Also, I'm finding myself hungry all day long, so I try to eat lower calorie meals and snacks so I can eat more often!

  • Ok, not to sound like a smart ass or anything, but Lean Cuisines and Healthy Choice meals and the like don't really promote or cause or have anything to do with weight loss. Yes, that's their "slogan" or whatever, but really, they are just small portions of low-to-moderate calorie meals. They are totally safe to eat while pregnant, just be mindful of eating balanced meals of "real" food, as well (i.e., stuff that hasn't been preserved and processed till it barely tastes like food anymore), and also be aware of the sodium content...it is usually quite high in frozen dinners.

I'm really sorry if that comes across as rude, because I promise it's not my intent! Smile

  • I am going to continue with Lean cuisines for a little while longer, don't have much time for lunch and I do really like some of them. They are a little high in sodium but as long as you are not losing too much and eating enough other stuff during the day I can't see why not but what do I know...this is my first.

No, it's not rude.  I didn't mean that they are the most healthy thing in the entire world...I just meant that people can and do lose weight on them, and that's kind of the opposite of what I'm supposed to be doing.  I don't eat them daily..just whenever I need something fast and easy.  And yeah..the sodium is out of control, which is another reason I don't eat them daily.  Thanks for your response!

  • I've been eating the Smartones for the same reason.  I just find they aren't enough food for me anymore.  I have to have a snack with them.

  • I agree, they are quick and taste really good, but I have stopped eating them because of the sodium content.  They are absolutely loaded with sodium!
