How long for Metformin to work?

I've been on 1500 mg of Metformin since May, and I'm wondering how long it can take to work. 

For those who starting ovulating once they took Met, when did you start noticing a change?

This may or may not be of any help to you, but I started Met in July 2007.  I didn't notice a change, but we went straight to IVF.  That failed and I got pregnant the following month (October) on Metformin alone.  I was also on 1500mg/day.  So it CAN work in 3 months...it did for me.  But I don't know if that's the norm or if I just got lucky as hell.
