DH has changed his name about DS name

he wants to name him Jack.  We decided 4 years ago when i was pregnant with DD1 (who was a surprise) if we had a boy his name would be Sebastian after DH's grandfather.  Now that im 30 weeks pg with a boy, he's changed his mind and is think we should name him Jack or Gian or Giacomo.  WTF. can someone help me out here? what should i do abou this jack thing? hope and pray he gets over it?

Do you really hate the name Jack?  Or are you just holding on to Sebastian because you already had it in your head that that would be your son's name?  Personally, I love the name Jack (Jackson)..unfortunately it won't work at all with our last name 

What is your daughter's name?  If you don't hate any of them, maybe go with whichever sounds best with your daughter's name

Although I love the name Jack, it is super popular and I prefer Sebastian over Jack for that reason. I don't really like the other two he said but I do like Giovanni. Did he give a reason for the sudden change in name?

4 years is a long time to hold onto a name.  I'm not even sure I like some of the names we picked out for girls when our boys were born last year! 

That being said, I don't think you can just dismiss a name he likes.  You both need to be happy with the name you give your son.  Ask him why he wants Jack now instead of Sebastian.  Any particular reason? 

If you dig your heels in too much on Sebastian, he's going to really start to dislike the name.  In the end, you both might have to compromise and use a name you can agree on, whatever it might be.

Would he be agreeable to Sebastian Jack or Sebastian Giacomo?  He could always call him Jack or whatever as his nn for him.

I had a grand idea of what my boy or girl would be called for about 4 years now, and once we were actually pregnant, the 2 names that had been NOWHERE were suddenly popular.  I decided to nix the old ideas and start with new ones.

I think you and your DH have to find middle ground.  Explain your feelings on Sebastian.  See if you can get out of your DH why he likes those names.  Remind your DH that Jack is immensely popular (there were 3 in one group of 2nd graders I taught last year).  I have heard so many babies named that.  The other two are awful, IMO.  

Maybe you can come up with a totally new name?  Or like PP, combine Sebastian with one of the others for first/middle.
