Need help locating provider on insurance website

Does anyone know under what provider category I would find a perinatologist. It is not one of the options on the drop down and I'm trying to check if a specific doctor is within network. I would call Blue Cross but my lines are tied up this morning. I tried obstetrics and gynecology but thats not the correct category. Thanks ladies.

Re: Need help locating provider on insurance website

  • My OB was able to give a referral who took my insurance. I couldn't find one on my list either.

  • hmm... werid, I;m not sure. But maybe try looking up a specific perinatologist by name or practice and then look to see what their specialty is listed as?  These are some perinatologists from the practice I went to when I had GD last time.  Anthony Lai, MD, M.B.B.S, FACOG
    Jorge Gomez, MD, FACOG
Lars Jensen, MD, MB.Ch.B., MMed OetG, FACOG, FRCOG
    Dibe Martin, MD, FACOG
    Ana Vidal Harris, MD

    Good Luck!

  • My OB also gave me a referral but SIL has a highly recommended Dr. that she gave me the info for and I can't find her for the life of me. Then again I can't figure out where in the drop down categories she would pop up under. She is one of the best in S.Florida and highly recommended by many doctors. Even my OB said great things about her. I just like to do my homework. If anything I will have to call Blue Cross during my lunch break, worse case scenario.
  • I just looked on mine and it was under Ob/Gyn specialties, but it was called maternal Fetal Medicine or high risk pregnancy, it didn't specifically say perinatologist.

FYI - I went to Dr. Lai

Actually I can look it up by name or even location but after you enter that information, you have to make a selection on the type of provider. If you don't, it won't do a search for you. Just the way the website is set up. Problem is if you select the wrong category, you can't find the correct Dr.

  • No help here, but just wanted to say that I too am going to the practice Goldie and Leanna mentioned.  My aunt saw them too and spoke highly of them.  I coincidently went to them b/c that is where my OB sent me for the sequential screening, and they kept me on a monthly basis.  I go to the office in Baptist, and all the staff is super friendly!

Word of advice - 9am apts are the pits! LOL  I usually go at 1pm, first appt after lunch, and I go right in.  : )

    GL!

Leanna I found it. Thank you so much. :) It was listed under Maternal Fetal Medicine. Some how I overlooked that option in the drop down.

Jackie - The problem is that I'm in S. Broward district. I'm going to an office in Weston. I have a feeling the Dr. my SIL is recommending is in Boca area. Either way I can't find her name, so she must be out of network for me.
