Rexella...

...is the name of a woman on a local Christian tv show. Ummmm.....is anyone else as disturbed by this name as I am?

    That is something I haven't seen....

    It reminds me of Rubella or something. YUCK!

    It's like her parents liked the name Rex for a boy and then when they found out it was a girl they tried to make it feminine.  Horrible!

    Me too!! Or else I was going to call MUD, thinking no one would ever name a girl Rexella. That's awful!

    I know who you're talking about! Rexella van Impe... she's a loon. Every time I heard her name I always thought of a dinosaur.

    I know who you are talking about too, she is nuts. I thought her name was so ridiculous, I named one of the stray kitty's that showed up at our barn Rexella, and another one Jack after her husband.

    I was hoping this wasn't an existing name. Rex is a hard sell for a boy around here, but Rexella...where do I begin.

    She's not actually nuts. She's getting up there in years, but she's not gone yet. I think what you may have meant to say is that she has some pretty radical Christian religious beliefs... which some could consider insanity, I guess... but I wouldn't.

    With that being said, she was named in 1932, when the boy name Rex was at it's second highest point in the history of the SSA list. So pp is probably right that someone was possibly hoping for a boy
