Graco Snugride- uncomfortable?

We got two snugrides, since we have two babies coming and need to buy double of everything, but I saw some reviews on here recently that folks said they weren't comfortable for the babies?

What was your experience?

Re: Graco Snugride- uncomfortable?

  • We have a Snugride and a Safeseat. DD used both of them, and we never experienced any issues. I know some of the fabrics may make them hotter, etc but we didn't have this issue either.

  • DS seems just fine in his!
  • There is a regular snugride and a snugride 32.  I have heard and seen in person in BRU that the snugride 32 is bigger and heavier.  It has a higher weight limit.  I didn't like it.  Carrying those things around is hard enough without adding more weight on top of the weight of the baby.
  • Uhm ... no ... my babe initially hated being constricted by the belts ... hated when I buckled her up in anything (car seat, swing, etc.) but she's fine now. As for the weight of the car seat ... I have an uppababy w/a car seat adapter so I never carry the seat around in hand.
  • DS was fine in his- in fact, I cried when he outgrew it.  God, I loved that thing!  There are some babies that are just not comfortable in ANY infant carseat and those parents just go ahead move them up to a convertable early.  I wouldn't worry about it until your babies are here though.  Most babies are just fine in the infant seats- whatever the brand.

  • I have the snugride & DD gets really hot in it, but then again I live in Miami. Big Smile However, even with the AC cranking she is still always sweaty when I take her out of the seat. She gets way overheated from the foam padding surrounding the seat- not a good choice for those in warm climates.

I have used an evenflo seat when visiting my mom & the issue of overeating did not exist

She's 14 lbs/25 inches and I can't imagine her using it more than another 2 months. The weight/height max is 22 lbs & 29 inches & she is no where near that & she seems to be getting uncomfortable in it as if she's outgrowing it already.

Overall- not thrilled with it since DD does not seem comfortable in it at all.

  • We have the 32 and he hated it at first (but then again, he hated everything at first), but now he likes it.  Gets excited when we put him in it b/c it means he's going for a ride.  ;-)

He's 19.4 lbs and 28 inches and I still caryy it with him in it when we come/go from daycare, visiting family, friends, etc...

  • My son HATED it. But I think it had more to do with the fabric making him all sweaty. If you get one of the more plush models with better fabric, I think you would be okay.
