I can't seem to decide what I think of the name Carter for a girl. My husband loves it, but I'm not totally sold. I'm concerned that it isn't feminine enough and also I can't pick an appropriate middle name. WDYT?

It is definitely not feminine, so if you want a feminine name, Carter would not be a good choice. I personally don't think it is a good choice for a girl anyway.
Please no - tell him to wait for a boy. Carter is an occupation surname - one who makes/uses carts - that has caught on for a first name like wildfire in my area. No - it's not feminine at all; it's just popular.
ohhhh noooo. definitely not. I get where you're coming from (it could fit in with the whole Harper, Piper trend), but if you ask me, that is torture. I'd hate having a boy's name. If you're into boys names, why not try a more unisex name like Avery, Quinn, Alex, Peyton, Jordan, Jamie, Brett or even Elliott?

Hands off my Elliott yo
LOL I didn't know it was on your short list! (It's our first mn choice). I'll hush about it now
Hahahaha...yep, see it's all mine. This trophy has the name Elliott on it (despite not being pregnant, not having a boy, and not being our number one name even if all that did happen)
We have a little girl named Carter at church and it totally fits her - she's adorable. I would have the name on my list but our last name has an 'r' in it and with Carter it's just too many 'r's.
Yup, Carter is all boy. If you want something unisex, I'd go for something more established like Jordan, Morgan, Avery, or Cameron. If you like the "Car" sound, you could consider Carly.
I'm obviously in the minority, but I do plan on naming my first little girl Carter Elizabeth and calling her Carter Beth. I think it's adorable. But I've seen a few posts asking about Carter for a girl and most people definitely hate it

At first when I saw Carter for a girl, my first thought was "no way". But now that I think about it...I actually kinda like it. I think it's cute. And you could pick a very feminine middle name.
I have a little girl in my Sunday school class at church named Carter and personally I really like it for a girl. I also like Mason and Hunter for girls names.

I'm in the minority here, but I love Carter for a girl. I don't really think it's that masculine or boy-like at all. In fact, I just think of it as more of a surname and completely unisex.
I like it. Kennedy isn't very girly but it seems that way now because so many girls use it. But I named my daughter Grayson (Gray) and never regretted it.
Re: Carter for a girl?
agreed
I love the name Carter....for a boy.
I think it is hideous for a girl. Sorry.

I usually like unisex names for girls, but this one I'm not too sold on.
Selena Gomez's character in that "Princess Protection Program" Disney channel movie was named Carter, though.

No really - it does say Elliott

Ok so Carter's out. Thanks for all of the feedback!
