How much is your baby eating now? G has been waking up in the middle of the night and our pedi said that he doesn't need to eat and is just wanting to eat for comfort. Well, last night he woke up and I tried to soothe him back to sleep and I could tell that he was hungy so I gave him a bottle and he went right to sleep. I guess I'm wondering if I'm not feeding him enough during the day. I make my baby food so I can't really say in jars but here's roughly what he's getting:
Early morning---8 oz bottle
Breakfast---cereal with 2 oz fruit and yogurt (I eyeball the yogurt but it's about 1 oz. I guess), 4 oz. formula
Lunch--2 oz fruit, 2 oz veg. and small portion of meat--but I just started the meat and it's challenging so he's not getting much from it. 4 oz. formula
Afternoon--8 oz bottle
Dinner--2 oz. fruit mixed with yogurt, 2 oz. veg. and small portion of meat. 6-8 oz bottle.
Am I way off??? He's gaining weight just fine but I don't know how to get him full enough to not need to eat in the middle of the night. TIA!
Re: Moms of 7-8 month olds--question
He has around 32oz of formula every day plus around 4 jars of stage 2 food. Each one is 4oz I believe. He has dinner around 30 minutes before bed and eats close to 2 jars and then has a little bit of formula (around 2-3 oz) right before bed. We can't really up his formula intake so we've been upping his solids intake as needed.
In regards to the meat, are you giving purees or finger food? I need to start meats, he hates the jarred meats which I can't blame him, they smell terrible. Just not sure if I should puree the meats or start trying to give him little pieces.
BFP with no treatment!
15-20 oz formula
3 solid meals - finger foods (no purees)
2 snacks
So do you just do small sized chunks of meat? Does she have teeth yet? I'm nervous about giving him chunks of meat because he just has 2 teeth that are currently coming in. Has there been any problem with gagging or choking?
7am: 7 oz formula (but the bottle has 8 if she ever makes it to that)
9am: breakfast about 2-3 oz of fruits/oatmeal
11am: 7oz formula (but bottle has 8)
12:30pm: lunch - about 2-3 oz of veggies
3pm: 7oz formula
5pm: dinner - about 3 oz mixed with veggie/fruits and meat. also some finger food (cheese, cheerios, rice..) but not a lot, just to get her started with table food.
7pm: last bottle 7-8 oz formula.
We give her small bits (usually break it into the size of a kernal of corn) of whatever we are eating. Her first tooth just popped through the skin a couple of days ago. At first, she gagged a little and I watched her really closely. It took her a couple of days of table food to become a pro. And once the table foods started, she outright refused all purees.
Maybe try giving him a night-night bottle or snack? this is our schedule
8oz bottle for breakfast
lunch: 3tbsp cereal/2-3oz formula or 4 oz blended cereal/fruit + 1oz fruit/or veggie of the week + 4oz bottle which he may or may not drink.
Snack:4oz veggie/or fruit (opposite of what is the weekly special)+6oz bottle. Again, he may or may not drink it all.
dinner: 4 oz veggie or fruit blend+ veggie/fruit of week + 4 oz bottle same as before.
night-nights:7-8oz bottle (this is at bedtime and then he either falls asleep when finished or stays awake for a book. He doesn't take it to bed with him.)
Amount wise and even schedule we're similar. How long is it from dinner to bedtime? We try to keep it all evenly spaced out so he's not going more than 4 hours without something unless he's sleeping.
I think Cooper eats a LOT of food.
6:30am - nurses, est 6-8oz
8:30a - 2oz fruit & 1 T cereal
9am - 8oz bm/formula
11:30am - 8oz bm/formula
2pm - 2oz veggies
3:30pm - 8oz bm/formula
5:30 - quick nursing session, probably only 2-3 oz
7pm - 2oz veggies, 1oz fruit + 1oz yogurt
8pm - nurses - probably 8oz
So total...40 milk and 1/2 cup of solid food.
