So it has been 7 yrs since I opk'd, so treat me like a newbie.....
I started with the FR opks today and am planning on using the CBE digitals when my line starts to darken. For those of you who do that, do keep going with the non-digitals too? Also, do you test once a day or twice a day when O is very close?

Re: OPK?
I've never done the digital kind. I didn't realize that you should test between 2pm and 8pm (I think), not FMU, until two days into this cycle. I also found that I was getting a positve for days on end. My doctor's office said to just stop testing once I get my first positive. Thanks for the wonderful explanation of how it's possible to get a positive so many days in a row.
Also, if you only test once a day you could catch the tail end of your advance notice. I chose to test twice a day to help pick up on the surge as early as possible. 2pm and again before bed, even after 8pm. That's my way of thinking. GL.
Thanks, my plan is to do the twice a day once I get a little closer. When I did opks yrs ago I never detected the surge line, but would get darker and darker (I got pg 3 time that way, so I was timing something right, of course I m/c all of them too). I did it with FMU back then so I've wondered if that was the problem. Some of the girls here suggested using the digital as a back up because it's easier to read and perhaps more sensitive (I'm not sure about that). I didn't want to shell out the cash for a CBEFM since this is a looong shot for us anyway. Good luck!
I spend way too much time on the internet...but try this overview of OPKs its great.

OMG, I had found this section on POAS.com a month ago and it was like the heavens had opened up and I finally understood the ins and outs of opk testing. I have always used it for the hpt section and didn't realize they had an opk part.
I do 8:00 pm on CD 11 and 12 and then 8:00 am and 8:00 pm until the stick smiles back at me. I had to do the digital only because trying to decipher a line should not be that stressful. : )
I'm so glad I"m not the only person who obsesses over the site. I frankly find it fascinating. I love the part where she shows the OPK pictures over 24 hours and how you can miss your surge only testing once a day.
