The AC at my BIL and sister's house is out. AC repair guy is coming today. BIL is "not comfortable" with my sister and their baby being home alone when the AC guy comes, so they asked my Dad to go over there.
It never occurred to me to be worried about a contractor or repair guy being in the house with me and DS.
Re: Would this bother you or DH?
If I was uncomfortable about it, I'd call around and get a recommendation from someone I trust.

I do make an attempt not to be home alone with a contractor or worker, but sometimes I can't help it.
If my BIL/SIL were right down the street and home at the time, I would definitely call and ask them to come over.
No. Not every guy out there is a serial killer, theif, rapist or 'bad guy'. Frankly, hardly any of them are.
I'm always a bit on edge but I don't have a problem being home alone(as long as it was a reputable company- not just some dude)
But I do put on my knife whenever I have someone come in the house. Gives me a little piece of mind. Its just a little blade nothing like Crocodile Dundee type of knife. Just big enough to hurt enough to get me (and kids) out of the house.
If I can't find someone to come over, I leave the front door open and hang out in the kitchen or living room (which are right by the front door). I don't care if only 1 in a million repairmen is a psycho killer, you never know who that 1 will turn out to be. I don't think any of the people who have been randomly killed ever thought the person they let in their house or passed on the sidewalk was going to kill them. Then again, I grew up with a very paranoid mother. Still, licensed or not, I'm not risking it.
