How do you do sponge baths?

Do you have a nighttime ritual? I have the Aveeno and johnson and johnson baby lotion but I am not sure how early to start using them at night. Pedi suggested Aveeno over J&J. Also I believe regular baths are when the umblicall cord falls off.

You are to do sponge baths until the umbilical cord falls off :0) We take a towel and a little bowl of water put a tiny bit of J&J head to toe body wash in it and dip a wash cloth in it. Then we lie him on the towel and just gently rub the wet washcloth over his body.

We do this as well. Except we also wash his hair and place his head (not face) under warm running water.
