We've had it for about 4 months....we've already jacked it up. Went on a road trip last month and DH scraped the drivers side along the side of a hotel overhang...and then about a week later I scraped the passenger side (though I must say mine is just a few inches...his is a few feet) on the side of our garage while pulling in. Some people just aren't meant to drive a van. Its gonna cost about $2000 to fix...we don't have that kind of $ right now. I figure as soon as we get it fixed....we'll wreck it again. May as well just keep on going and really turn it into a piece of crap. Stupid van....I want my SUV back!!!
Re: Someone asked a while back why NOT to get a van...here's why
I hope so! lol...
My H tried to talk me into a van but, I just couldn't part with my SUV even though it might be a pain for awhile.
are vans wider than suvs? those 3 row suvs look pretty scary big to me!

i do hope you are joking... because yeah- the fact that you and your DH are not great drivers doesn't mean it's the van's fault.
SUVs (the large ones) are not much different in size than minivans... i have driven them both and don't see a difference. And every time I drive a new car - i am VERY careful, esp when pulling into tight spots... sounds like you guys need to slow down a bit.
when pulling my minivan into my garage i pull the side mirrors in - helps a lot to avoid scraping/hitting them.
i think it probably has more to do with having kids and being rushed around... well, that's what it would be in my case!
i just made a boo boo on my volvo station wagon a couple of days ago. it was a non-driving boo boo. i had the trunk up and had put the garage door opener on top of the car. when i pulled the trunk shut, i heard a crunch. at first i thought it was the opener. nope, my poor volvo had a piece almost break off (a few inches big) and the opener was fine! i could have cried.
i was juggling a baby and bags, audrey was at the start of a tantrum, and we were in a hurry. my point being, with babies it's best not to rush around. ha ha, like when is that supposed to happen?!?
i'm sure the whole piece will need to be replaced. so upsetting.
Im very careful while driving but accidents happen. I was pulling out of our driveway and cut the corner too sharp (out drive way turns back around the side of our house. I had pulled all the way up so we could fit 3 other cars in for a family dinner) and brushed against the siding on the house. There are lines the color of the tan siding on my maroon van on the front bumper.
Dh backed into one of those short little concrete polls at a gas station. You can not see those darn things in the rear view mirror because they are too short. So there is a small (cant even get my pinky into it) hold in the back bumper.
Then I went to walmart one day and came out to find a huge rectangle dent on the side of the rear window. (the medal frame part around the window) It looks like someone may have backed into my van with a ladder in their truck or something.
All of that happened within 6months of owning it. We have a $500 deductible that we just cant swing right now or we would turn it all in and have them fixed. I hate having a jacked up car. I love my van. I cried when I came out of walmart and saw the dent. SOO glad it didnt break my window though. THAT would have sucked. Oh, and WM didnt have their d@mn camera on in the section of the parking lot I parked in. BOOO!!! So we have no way to find out what happened or to make whoever did it pay to have it fixed.
I havent driven an SUV before but I can say that parking and backing out of places is a lot different from a car. There is also a huge difference n my new van than my old van. My new one feels sort of like driving a boat. I had to re-learn how to park and how to swing the thing around so I wouldnt scrape other cars/objects. Other than that it drives great. Since the house thing (which happened within the first 2months) I learned to pull in/out extremely slow and not to rush while parking/pulling out.

I would agree with you. I drove a SUV before getting the van and now I have more people hitting the van then we ever have with the SUV. I watched a guy park his huge SUV and he hit the van twice but since it was in a parking lot there wasn't much I could do. The good thing is he only put a small dent in the front bumper from his hitch. When we were looking at vans it was hard to find one that didn't have dents all over them.
