At my last appointment my doctor told me I was not timing sex at the right time. He said I needed to do it on day12 then skip 13 and do it again on 14. This would be true if I had a 28 day cycle but mine is always anywhere from 31-36(and this month 36) . I mentioned this to him and he still said the same thing. Starting clomid this cycle days 5-9 and the only other cycle I took it I ended up having a 38 day cycle. correct me if I am wrong but if i had a 30 day cycle wouldn't I O on day 16, 32 day 18 and so on? Any advice helpful. On cd day 14 I had some heavy spottong for one day right out of the blue then nothing till I started on day 36. I am wondering what it was and if that is maybe why I started so late on cd 36. It's weird the day the doctor wanted me to have sex I was bleeding and according to him should have been O'ing. Any advice helpful, this is so frustrating........GL to all of you and thanks for the insight. Never dreamed I would be on cycle 19,,,,
Re: A few questions if you don't mind, on my 19th cycle :(
You don't always O 14 days before your period. So if you have a 30 day cycle, you aren't guaranteed an O date of CD16. Everyone is different. I suggest charting too. It's the best way to pinpoint when you have ovulated - pick up Takind Charge of Your Fertility. Excellent book. It will help clear some things up for you. You can chart through Fertility Friend - most of us have links to our charts in our sigs.
Has your dr suggested any type of testing to see if everything is working properly? Usually after 35 dr's will start doing testing after TTC for 6 months. (under 35 the rule of thumb is trying for year before a dr will do testing)
Good luck!!!
Agree with every bit of this, you might consider getting a second opinion if your dr is unwilling to look into things. Good luck!
Are you seeing an RE or just an OBGYN? I have found that most OBGYN's don't really have a complete understanding of how cycles work. Their training is more for keeping you healthy, not fertile... Definatly read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It answers a LOT of questions. I wish I had read it years ago. I plan on giving it to any nieces when they reach about 25.
Charting is your friend if you want to know when you ovulate. It can change each month or be the same.... If you clikc on my FF ticker, you can sign up for fertility friend (there is a free version or a paid version) and they have tutorials on charting.
Good luck!
Definitely read Taking Charge of your Fertility first! Then give charting a try. You might also want to try OPK tests to make sure you are ovulating & when. The Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor is a great one but is expensive! I have also tried the Clearblue Easy digital OPK tests & liked them also!
Also, are you seeing an RE or an OB/GYN? Are they monitoring you while on the Clomid? From your post it didn't sound like it?! Hopefully they are...that is extremely important!
