When DC makes stuff out of recycled stuff (?)

How long to you keep it and how do you get rid of it?  How do you explain this to DC (and your hoarding DH, if it applies)?

 

For example, DD makes houses for her stuffed animals out of diaper boxes, I just saw a post below about making stuff out of big cardboard boxes and keeping it up for a few days, but my family would give me trouble about ever taking it down.

We don't use boxes for this purpose anymore, simply because DC gets really upset when we have to get rid of it.  However, when we made a "house" out of our refrigerator box, we told DC we had to get recycle it so the company could make more boxes.  It worked!

That was my post about the house/tunnels out of boxes up for a few days.  DD had no problem with me taking it down.  By that time she was getting bored with it and ready to move on.  I don't know what I would do if she wanted me to leave it up longer.  This monstrosity literally took up most of the living room floor.

We keep it until the box falls apart.  Boxes are fun

I keep things until DD stops playing with them. if/when she notices, I say that the item broke and then DISTRACTION!

I'm a terrible mom and also throw away her art projects, too. She's used to things disappearing, I guess.

We don't allow cardboard boxes to remain in our house longer than taking the contents out. The boxes can harbor way too many types of bugs and bug eggs.
