DH and I have been struggling to find a name that is unique, has a nice meaning, isn't too strange, and goes well with our DD's name. We recently stumbled upon the name Naomi...I like it, but Im not totally sold on it.

What do you think?

It sounds a little old-ladyish to me (a good friend's grandmother is named this and so was one of my own grandmother's close friends). That makes me feel like it's poised for a comeback!

I've never been a fan of the name, but I think it goes well with Eva and I like that it isn't terribly popular, so I think it's a decent choice.

DH and I both like it, but wouldn't use it for our daughter. I especially like biblical names, but it wouldn't go with our last name anyway.

I think it is a really lovely name.  A friend used it recently on her daughter and at first I wasn't sure, but it really has grown on me.  It is cute but not cutesy, if you know what I mean.  I think it is perfect for a little girl but will grow better than the Kylie/Brinley type names.  It is sophisticated but also very sweet.

I like Naomi...I have a liking to the name because it was my great grandmothers. I think it's still a name that is current enough to use for today. Good choice

This is my DH's favorite name for a girl. I like it, but don't love it. I do think it is a nice name though.

I like it! I have a friend Naomi but every time I hear it all I can think of is the movie Van Wilder and the quote "Her name is Naomi, That's I Moan backwards"  But I highly doubt most people know that! lol

I grew up with a Naomi--the only one I've ever known--and she's a wonderful, unique and creative person--so naturally I think it's a beautiful name.

I always think of I moan. The name isn't my style to begin with, but I moan seals the deal!

i love it!  i'm really into meanings and the story of that person in the bible, and i must say that the story of ruth and naomi is a beautiful one.  and the meaning (from behindthename.com) is "pleasantness," or (from babynames.com) is "beautiful, gentle."

Wow thanks ladies! I love all the responses! I never realized it spelled i moan backwards, but honestly I dont think thats very important.

I love the meaning of the name and I also like "Noemi" as some of you suggested!
