Hi ladies! Can I ask for some advice?
DH and I are currently on our 2nd cycle ttc and we thought we'd done the deed too often last cycle (once a day during fertile days and during other times during the cycle as well), which is why we may have struck out. Charting was difficult for me last cycle since I started temping a few hours earlier in the morning than I had in the beginning of my cycle and I suspect it was right around the time I ovulated (FF did not detect O last cycle, but I'm 99% sure that I did).
So I have two questions:
1. Is it possible that my LP was longer last cycle, since AF arrived a few days later than anticipated? Or is it more likely that I O'd later than I thought? (If I O'd later, that may explain why we missed out - we were exhausted from all the BDing and took a break)
2. I've heard so many different things, but assuming DH's sperm count is normal, would you recommend sex every day or EOD? We tried to time things so that we were allowing a full 24 hours between intercourse, but maybe that was still not enough?
I'm still new to this all and I've been trying to learn as much as I can, but there are still so many things that are confusing. We're thinking that this cycle, I'll continue charting as usual, and we'll have sex EOD until the fertile period and then maybe every day during those days. What do you think?
Thanks for your time and advice! And a big congrats to you all on your pregnancies! That is truly wonderful and exciting!
Re: What would you recommend?
I used to be on a board and there was a woman who was considered the guru of charting.

Go here to the TTC forum, make an ID, whatever... go to the "Chart Stalkers Anonymous" board. Her name is Lorenemomof5. If you title the thread. Lorene help, or advice from lorene?? She will help you as will the other ladies.
She's really quite amazing in how well she picks up the charting. She's been doing it for years!! She helped me a lot.

In general, a woman's LP won't vary by more than a day or two so it's more likely you Oed later.
I think every other day is best - you don't want to "burn out" and every other day is just as effective. Sperm can live for 4-5 days in a fertile environment so it's not necessary to hit your O day on the spot.

So true. I'm fairly certain this is why we missed. I assumed I O'd and we went on a sex hiatus. :::shakes fist:::
Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? I recommend it, if you hadn't.
Basically, you can do everything right, BD at the perfect time, and you still only have a 25% chance of conceiving.

I would keep charting. I didn't temp at the same time everyday, it was close to when I usually did but not all the time. (I tried) and It still worked for me. I also used OPK's like it was my job. You can buy them cheap online.
DH and I BD everyday during FWP week. Then once I knew I O'd we still BD for a few more days after just to be sure. Yes we were tired but I wanted to make sure we had as much sex as possible.
You are most welcome. Sorry I couldn't be much help myself, but Lorene and the other ladies there are wonderful.
BTW, here is my BFP chart. We went every day in that general time frame.

The only thing I did this month different was I didn't prop my hips. The first month I stopped that was the month it landed. And BF drank tons of cranberry juice, hardly any soda that month which may be coincidence, but whatever it was, something worked.
I've also heard mixed things about that too! I have been doing that every time, because I heard it was a good thing to do, but everyone on TTGP says that it's the quickest way to get a UTI and nothing else - I don't get UTIs, so I'm not too concerned about that, but it seemed like a smart thing to do.
Maybe I'll stop... your BFP chart looks awesome. Big congrats!!
With our 1st child and this current one, DH and I had sex every other day leading up to poss. ovulation time. Then we went to every day for about 4-5 days. This worked great for us!
That being said, it WAS exhausting (more so this time around with another LO to take care of) so I think you have to factor that in.
Oh, and I propped myself both times. I never get UTI's either and the Taking Charge of Your Fertility book says it can help if the sperm is not the greatest. No problems the 1st time around 3 years ago, but this time I ended up with a UTI.
Luckily it started after my fertile time and we still managed to get our BFP. Good luck! It is such an exciting time!
Personally, I found that charting stressed me out. It messed up my sleep schedule, and I just felt anxious because I was thinking about it ALL the time. I went in for my annual check-up, talked to my doctor, and she suggested that it would be better to be less stressed out and to just count days back from my expected period date (my cycles tend to be pretty regular). We got pregnant the following month (June).
We tried the day before and the day of my expected ovulation, and we also had sex two days after I expected to O. Interestingly, when I had my bloodwork done, the doctor said it looked I may have O'ed later than expected, so it could have been any of those three days.
The main thing for me was not being stressed out about conceiving. I wouldn't tell you to stop charting, if that works for you, but do what you can to not worry about getting pregnant -- whatever that looks like for you. It will happen in time, and we will all be here to jump up and down with you over your BFP!
