Our computer crashed. We have an external hard drive that has ALL the pictures backed up onto it.  DH got the computer back up, but the external hard drive isn't detected.  We're gonna have to take it somewhere to get the data recovered.  I'm so sick over this, I've been a mess all day. 

Please say a prayer to little baby Jesus that we get it all back.

This happened to us a while back, and they were able to recover everything.  Needless to say all photos and important docs are on cd's for back up. Good luck, I'm sure they can do it!!

where did you take it for the recovery? I'm paranoid...and Best Buy (which may be on the cheap side) is $250.

We got all ours back plus the deleted files when if happened to us! Good luck

My husband actually took it to someone he knew.  I do know my brother had good luck at Best Buy though.

I am paranoid this will happen to me. Maybe I should work on that this weekend. I have a stack of CD's....

I highly recommend using an online back up as well as your external hard drive.  Mozy and Backblaze are both good.

oh, I will now.  I thought I was good having it on an external hard drive - I didn't realize it would crash just like the internal.  

Thanks for the recs, also....I'll be looking at that as soon as I choke thru the cost of getting it recovered.
