I'm usually lurk on this board but now that I'm on maternity leave and have a better handle on having 2 kids, I hope to be more active. I'm working with my 2 year old on potty training but am having difficulty. She does great in going pee in the morning, right after she wakes up but after that she doesn't want to tell me when she needs to go pee. I've read several ladies here have had great success with the 3 day potty training method. Can you please help me in how I can get my 2 year old potty trained, I really don't like changing diapers all day
Re: Potty Training Help
Hi! We are working on PTing my 2 year old, and really pleased with his progress so far. The 3 day method is essentially putting your kid in undies, and changing them after accidents all day long until they get it. It's a big hardcore in that they want you to toss ALL diapers and have the kid help so they know diapers are no longer an option, and to immediately stop using them for naps and bedtime. We still use diapers and nap and bedtime (although he's been waking up dry - I'm just too chicken to go without and have to change and wash sheets everyday), and never did the ceremonial throwing out all the diapers.
But, we did just put him straight in undies, took him to the potty in 30-60 minute intervals, and just changed undies as he had accidents. Tried to stay home as much as possible during the first week. After about a week, he was telling us when he had to go potty. We're still working on #2 as he poops in his underwear often (so nasty!). Sometimes, we can get him to the potty in time and he'll finish up #2 in there.
It's hard if you're on your own. My mom was visiting and was a huge help as it's really difficult to take your kid to the potty every half an hour when you have another kid to take care of!
