Issues with PT and BM's at daycare

We have had dd in underwear as part of her PT process for about 3 weeks now. She is doing great for us. She still has a pee or bm accident every once in a while, but nothing that warrants going back to pull-ups, in my opinion. The problem is bm's at daycare. She will not tell her teachers when she needs to have a bm. They take her every 45 minutes and she will pee, but she will not bm. Instead she will do it in her underwear. Daycare policy is if the child isn't PT, they have to wear diapers/pull-ups, so because of this ongoing issue, they have had to put her back in pull-ups.

Frustrated because we have only ben using pull-ups for nap and bedtime and was getting used to NOT having to spend as much money for them anymore. Plus, when we made the decision not to go back to diapers, we didn't want to go back. This morning as soon as she woke up she told me she had to potty, so we took her and she had a huge bm (probably from the massive amount of blueberries she had last night Smile ). It just made me so mad to have to send her in a pull up today. Frustrated and not for sure what to do.

Re: Issues with PT and BM's at daycare

  • I do not agree with your daycare's policy AT ALL.  That is so backwards!  Our daycare has been great with the entire process, and actually advises parents against pull ups.  It tooks DS awhile to start pooping in the potty, he pooped in his underwear almost every day.  Daycare never had a problem with it.  I don't know what you should do, but that would not be cool with me at all.  Not at all.  She will never learn!  Do they expect them to PT overnight?  It's been less than a month!  Grrrr, I'm mad for you!  I would definitely talk to the director about it.  Do they not have this happen with other kids?  It's such a common issue when kids are first PT.
