I can't decide what to do about carseats/booster seats.....
DS2 will need DS1's carseats (we have a Roundabout and Marathon) in about 6-8 months so we need new ones for DS1. He is currently 26 months, 31ish lbs and 36". I can't decide whether to get convertible seats.....or the big booster seats that have the 5 pt harness. (thinking Britax Frontier...but they are expensive).
But the boosters are very upright and thinking not as comfy for DS1 to fall asleep in?
DH isn't up on the idea of only having carseats in my car (then we wouldn't need any new ones yet since DS2 could use the Roundabout and #1 stay in the Marathon).
What are you doing? Do you know which boosters (with 5 pt harness) have the best safety ratings?
Re: In need of carseat advice
We have 3 kids and 5 Britax carseats (2 are spares). DD#1 is 4.5 but is STILL in a convertible carseat. She's 32lbs. I won't put her in a booster until she's at LEAST 40lbs and it'll be a 5-pt harness booster.
The laws vary by state regarding boosters. A good rule of thumb is 4 years AND 40lbs if you want to be really sure.
GL in your search!
But does the big booster with the 5 pt harness count as a booster? So DS would have to be 4 or 40 to use a Britax Frontier type?
our state does say 4yrs or 40lbs for a booster......
A booster is a booster. Some have 5 pt harnesses, but most do not....it's still a booster......
If your state says 4 OR 40, then you can put your child in when they reach either.
We just got a steal on two Britax Frontier 85's for DD. We will hold off on moving her into them until she is finished PTing and DS outgrows the infant seat. Diapers.com has a good Britax sale going on right now. The Frontier gets excellent ratings. It can be used starting at 2 yrs. and 25lbs. I believe most state laws for boosters are for belt positioning boosters. The Frontier has both a forward-facing mode and a booster mode.
With 2u2, you will defintely end up needing boosters for both kids. Personally, I think it makes sense to move up if you are going with a dual-mode seat like the Frontier.
