Pregnant after IF

How long were you on Prog?

My doc gave me the choice of quitting my Prometrium/Endometrin at 12 weeks, but said optimum would be 13 weeks.  Seriously, do I REALLY need to stay on it that long?
It's making me absolutely freaking miserable and I'm wondering if I'll starting feeling less nauseous if I stop taking it.  Or should I just grin and bear it citing that I would beat myself up if anything were to happen to the babies?

I stopped all progesterone support at 7-8 weeks.  My levels were monitored and stayed over 70 so my RE didn't think it was necessary.

They did put me back on progesterone when I lost the twins - so I have no clue if staying on it longer could have prevented my loss - but I'm thinking not since TTTS was the official diagnosis that cause fetal demise.

  • I was on PIO till 12 weeks.  Normally my RE does PIO till 8 weeks but I had bleeding and he wanted me to stay on longer.

As much as I hated it and complained a fair amount, if I had done less then what the dr. said and something happened I would never forgive myself.

I know it sucks but you've come this far, a little more will hopefully be worth it in the end :)

  • I was on PIO until 10 weeks

16 weeks.  My RE tried to take me off at 12 weeks and my progesterone was still super low.  My OB was going to take me off at 16 without a blood test EEK!  Needless to say I made sure I got the test and all was well.

  • I was told I could taper off at 11 weeks (endometrin)... Seems like there is quite a range. My RE never checked levels after 5 weeks (maybe he would have if he were concerned?)

  • My doctor just told me to stop taking it at 7w4d.  GL!

  • I get to stop at 11.5 weeks. I thought that was later than a lot of other girls.

  • I was on PIO until 10 weeks. I had some bleeding a couple of days after I stopped so I was put back on as a preventitive until 12 weeks. At 12 weeks I weaned myself off instead of cold turkey and was totally off by 13 weeks. FYI, my bleeding at 10 weeks had nothing to do with going off of PIO but from placenta previa.

  • I was taking it until 10 weeks.
  • I stayed on it until 13.5-14 weeks due to all the bleeding I was having.  My RE said if I hadn't been bleeding, I could have stopped at 10 weeks.
