Enfamil Gentlease?

So my LO was diagnsed with AR last week and put on Zantac. The doctor recommended we try him on Enfamil Gentlease to help with the spit up. He was on Similac Advanced. So he has been on Enfamil Gentlease for two days and has been a completely different baby. He is constantly crying, arching his back, farting alot, spitting up every ten minutes or so and just wants to be held.

Has this happened to anyone else using this formula? Our pedi said to give it 2 weeks before I will notice any improvement but I cant see him like this for two more weeks~

HELP!!

Re: Enfamil Gentlease?

  • My LO does not have AR but we use gentlease. He never ever spits up and his gas is minimal. Did you ask your pedi about Enfamil AR? Its added rice for spit up and I know a lot of girls put rice in the formula for their LOs AR.

  • That's odd, I would think your pedi would put you on enfamil AR. My LO was spitting up a lot and we thought he might have AR so our pedi put us on enfamil AR and the spitting up stopped (was very minimal) but our LO became constipated, had hard stools and was very gassy so now he is on enfamil gentlease for gas and fussiness. Only been on it for 2 days but the gas has been much better. He is spitting up again but not as much as before.

I would ask your pedi about enfamil AR but beware of possible constipation.

We had samples of Enfamil  Premium Lipil (the yellow can) and the Gentlease.  We started with the yellow can and when we ran out, we started giving her the Gentlease.  She did NOT do well on it... she never really spit up or had gas before, but she sure did after switching!   We went out and bought the Premium Lipil and within a day or so she was back to her normal self.

  • We tried the gentlease for a couple of days b/c DS had bad gas and was in pain.  The gentlease made it SO much worse!  :-(   We put him back on Enfamil Lipil and he still has gas pains, but nothing as bad as with the gentlease.
  • Thanks for the feedback ladies! I decided to go back to using the Similac Advanced~
