do you like the boutique ruffle pants for little girls? (edit)

friend is trying to convince me they are cute.   I like a dress and the company has them paired with ruffle pants...which are okay on the model... not thinking it would work on my petite skinny minny dd.

this link is the actual outfit

  • I voted cute-but-I-wouldn't-buy-them, until I saw the actual outfit.

    Those are godawful. No way.

  • ss - I don't like the fluffy patterned fabrics, but in a plain solid knit fabric they're awesome for play clothes.  I won't buy them, I made 4 pairs for DD.

These are capris on her now, this is from last year -

  • I like them on other kids, but for dd I hate them with a burning passion.  She has legs like sticks.  She would be lost in a pair of pants like that. Skinny jeans are loose on her.

she's adorable.  and those actually do look cute on her.... I'm still unsure.  I like the knit dress... not sold on the pants.

see, this is my dd.  skinny jeans are not skinny on her.  she is 4 1/2 and still in her size 3 Gap leggings.  she cannot wear the 3 length jeans ... but the 4s are too wide.  even the slims.

  • Kori, those are cute and I would make them for DD. As for patterned ones, it definitely depends on the pattern.

    Lari - want the pattern?

  • I think they are super cute, even the pattern ones, but I wouldn't put them with a dress.  I'd put them with a cute top/tank (like Kori's Sam) or more fitted shirt.  I don't like lots of loose/borderline baggy clothes on little girls.

If I were to buy that dress, I'd put leggings with it.

  • Of course.

  • My girls have worn them before-they look cute. They were cuter on M last year since she's short and chubby. They were cute on Bella, too, just not as cute.

  • Alissa is wearing an outfit like that today, sort of. She has a tank w/ the appliqued flowers on it from the pants, and the pants have the ruffle bottom on them. The tank is a solid pink, w/ a few appliques on it and the pants are a flowery pattern.

She loves this outfit. I wish I could find a pic of it, but it reminds me of some of the stuff Pin does. Anyway, Alissa is super skinny minnie and looks good, but I think it's because the tank fits her well and isn't large and flow-y.

This is the style, but not the pattern.

You can't see it well, but the pattern is the one where the girl is holding the balloons.

I wouldn't buy those pants (DD wardrobe is 70% MJ) because #1 they are a decorator weight which means they are not soft. #2 They don't go with much.

I love me some Amy butler fabric but not like that!

As far as ruffled pants go, we have a ton. DD will only wear pants with ruffles.

I prefer the stew ruffles from last fall. Yes they are pricey but DD has gotten 3 seasons out of them and will wear them again this year:

  • And if you have a skinny girl those pants should fit fine, they seemed to have been running slim. Unfortunately MJ sizing is all over the place. DD is a 6/8 in dresses but a 4 in pants, 6 in shirts.

The clothing runs wide and short. So take that into consideration.

I know... it's tough to figure out!  most of dd's  MJ dresses are 4s.  I ordered her 2 longsleeve ones, size 4s and they fit with a little sleeve room for the fall. most are wide (except for the pinkie lap dress, that one is a stretchy material and not as loose as the others)  all of them hit her at the knee. the tshirts were huge on her... but she's narrow. the 4 skirt fit perfectly.  I was told to order up for the Cher dress... so we'll see how that goes. I heard it was narrow and short compared to the rest of their stuff.  I don't have much from MJ ... but we have one dress that was given as a gift almost 2 years ago...size 2... big... she can still wear it with pants under it. hits lower/mid thigh.   she's 4 1/2 and in a size 4 in most tops ... but can be a 3t or 4t in dresses.  pants, she needs the length, but 4s are so wide. I have a feeling it will be a legging/tights kind of fall.

I love MJ stuff.. so well made and unique and most is cute.  but I only buy during sales . $$$  and the sizes are tough to figure out.

  • btw pin... your dd is ADORABLE!
