Success after IF

stuff the babes have outgrown

i have a bunch of baby stuff to sell.  would you recommend using craigslist or eBay?  i just know on craiglist, i've always gotten a ton of responses that are a waste of time.  but i don't get fees taken out like on eBay.

i have a DSNG, tons of clothes (some never worn)... what would you guys recommend?  is there some other option out there that i'm not thinking of?

  • What about taking them to a consignment shop?  I've never done it myself, but I'm thinking about it when the twins outgrow everything.  I believe they cut a check every month (?) for whatever they've sold.

ETA:  We're also thinking about just saving everything up for a big yard sale next spring.  We have lots of other household stuff, too.  I'm sure you could get more money selling things on ebay or craigslist, but a yard sale would be much easier.

  • I've had a lot of success using Craigslist to get rid of just about any and everything.  But a friend of mine sold a ton of her baby stuff on Ebay and raved about it.

Consignment stores are also a good bet, but often times they aren't willing to take clothes cause they already have too many.

I'd probably try Craigslist and/or a consignment store first since they are less work than Ebay.

  • You can list it as lots for twins (if there are two of some of them) and then just say Price Firm, Serious Inquiries only. And don't tend to sketchy sounding people.

I rec CL 1st - local, no shipping, no "I didn't get it in time", no "the items weren't as you described", etc....people on EBAY can be so unpredictable and vile.
  • I've contacted a local consignment shop but was turned away because she has too much girl clothing for that age/size. It's a small store.  I may do a "lot" of clothing on a local tv webpage that has free online classifieds.  I've never really checked out Craig's List.  We also have a local flea market where you can rent a table.  I doubt I'd get much since it's located in a not so great part of town.

I think a Multiples group mom-to-mom sale would be a good bet for you. It'd be more work than craigslist since you'd have to show up somewhere with all your stuff, but you know the buyers at those events are interested. I'm in the buying mode for twin stuff right now and if I weren't on bedrest I'd hit up every MoM sale in the area!
