Clomid Dosage Questions

First Question: I have had two miscarriages and recently discovered I had low progesterone.  My FSH and estrogen levels were tested and that all came out fine.  The doctor wants me to do the clomid challenge to see how I would respond to medication.  He prescribed 100 mg a day.  I did some research and found most doctors start you off at 50mg.  I am very concerned about side effects as my body is very sensitive to medication.  Did anyone start at 100 mg?  I ovulate on my own regularly every month. 

Second Question:  The doctor has discovered that I have low progesterone as noted above.  Has anyone used fertility drugs like clomid to increase progesterone levels, i.e. to get a better ovulation?

I started last cycle doing 100mg.  I was monitored and did the trigger shot.  It gave me a big ole' cyst and I had to get on birth control for 2 weeks to get rid of it.  I'm starting round 2 of 100mg tonight, praying that I don't get another cyst.  I'd like to give it another chance.

As far as the progesterone, the Clomid itself did help a lot!  It increased my LP from 10/11 days to 14 days!  I had all the symptoms of pregnancy, so be prepared for that, it was the progesterone.

Hello!  I ovulate on my own each month but have low progesterone.  My dr prescribed 50mg of clomid.  It increased my progesterone but not enough to sustain a pregnancy.  So my dr then prescribed 100mg which worked really well for me.  I had very minimal side effects, except for being more tired and very little cervical mucus (which is why we moved on to IUI with clomid).  Call your dr and ask why he prescribed 100mg instead of starting off with 50mg.  Maybe he's had more success with 100mg on patients similar to your situation and doesn't want to waste a cycle on 50mg.

he is doing the clomid challenge test with me so it needs to be 100 mg.  I will see what happens.
