Yes, I know it's a very trendy name, but its' what we like and it goes well with Camryn (DD's name) and DH is Irish, so he wants an Irish name. How would you spell it?[Poll]

I chose Aidan because I like that spelling better for a boy. JMO.

Aidan is the original spelling. Aiden is the name of an author and porn star. So while I don't care for it, I much prefer the Aidan spelling.

As a mother of Aiden i will say this..  I honestly, honestly chose his name out of a list and had never ever heard of it. I did not 'check around'. I settled on the name and even before he was born i started hearing it around (worked at wm at the time, and started hearing mother's saying it) but i refused to change his name. u know pregnancy stubborness. lol     This time i plan to do more 'checking' before i make a final decision.   I still love the name regardless, but you are always going to have a name that is associted with someone well known, or if not your name might be too weird for anyone else to like.   

 I will say also that Aidan is how it is spelled on pre-made name gifts u see at Christmas and whatnot. So if that is important to you, spell it that way. lol  I get dissapointed when its never spelled the way i want.  And since my name is Sarah and there is always the Sara/Sarah debate i do feel bad for Aiden who will always have to answer the question.   I always know to say 'with the H'   (which is the CORRECT spelling lol) 

braveangel2- just curious about the porn star comment- thats first time i heard that. is it a 'stage' name or a 'famous' porn stars real name?

i think i heard there was an Aiden/Aidan on Sex and The City- which might have been where the popularity came from. never watched a full episode, so probably why i didn't know that.  if that is true?

also i don't get that Aiden/Aidan is a unisex name at all. irritates me when i see Aiden for a girl.  i really would have NEVER chosen the name Aiden if it could be considered a girls name for some. NEVER.    but people do weird things.  like i have a friend with a son named Addison. yes it means 'son of Adam' (her DH name) but still.   technically its a last name, but more popular as a girls name.  lots of last names are ...son which all mean 'son of'..'  my maiden name included.  doesn't mean i am going to use that literally.

Regional issue?  Our boy name is Aidan Thomas and every "personalized" toy/cup/pencil/whatever in this neck of the woods is spelled "Aiden"

OP - I obviously voted Aidan, since that's what we chose.  We chose it because it's the traditional spelling and subbing in "e's" where they don't belong irks me.

 I have only seen Aiden on a kid's sized license plate- so i bought it of course!  All the hallmark stuff or craft store things i have seen are Aidan.  So i guess check in your area first! who knew.

I was doing some research on the whole Aidan/Braden/Caden popularity, and I thought I found out that Aidan Shaw from Sex and the City was named for Aiden Shaw, the author and porn actor.
