My IVF cycle was a big ol' mess up. I went in on Monday for u/s and b/w.. Didnt go in until Wednesday.. By that time, my estradial level had already dropped indicating ovulation. They triggered me Wednesday and planned an ER for Friday. By the time Friday rolled around, I had already ovulated and they could only retrieve 3 eggs (2 immature and 1 degenerative)... It has been absolutely a nightmare.
Does anyone have a similar experience with this? My doc doesnt think that its an egg quality but just a bad timing issue. But just the fact that the egg quality issue came up makes me nervous.
TIA.

I have had 2 IVF rounds and will be starting my stims for round 3 on Saturday.
I am actually VERY surprised that this happened and would question your monitoring to be quite honest. Once I start my stims, I go in for b/w and u/s every day at which point they change the dosage as needed. I am also on cetrotide which controls the hormones that release your eggs and make you ovulate. So the cetrotide keeps you from ovulating. Being monitored daily, measuring egg size, and taking cetrotide really should keep this from happening. My RE says that there is always a chance but it is super slim. Did your RE have you on cetrotide? It also seems like you were not monitored daily which is quite surprising.
I am so sorry this happened. It should have nothing to do with egg quality. Your eggs were obviously mature and therefore your body naturally ovulated...by stimulating the ovaries to create more eggs, they get overloaded which is why you need to be monitored regularly for early signs of ovulation.
Sorry if that was a jumbled mess. Hope it helped a bit.
I don't think this should happen if you are properly suppressing ovulation and are being monitored. Unless for some reason your body didn't respond to the suppression meds you are on? I would definitely talk to your RE and get some answers. They should be able to control this from happening.
Like PP said, there is no way that this indicates any issues with egg quality. I think it is either a snafu with your meds or some bad monitoring. Sorry that happened. I know it is so much work and stress (and money in most cases) to go through for it to end poorly.
