The white part at the base of your nails? Moons? I've heard a term for it before, but can't think of it now.

Re: What are they called?
Half Moons?
Edit- I have them on all my nails except for my pinkies. They are huge on my thumbs, and get progressively smaller until they are gone.
Cause I know you really wanted to know that.
I found this site.I don't know how accurate it is but it sounded intelligent.
It said:
"They are called the Lunula.
The Lunula is often referred to as ?moons?. The whitish half moons are keratin cells that have not yet been completely flattened and still have some of their content. Not everyone has visible lunula?s The lunula is normally more prominent on the thumbs. The shape of the lunula determines the shape of the free edge/distal edge."
PSA: If you don't have them there is an excellent chance that you have or will develop FMS.
It's a weird indicator but it would have been nice to know ahead of time.
FMS?
Thanks guys, I googled it, but I sometimes I don't know whether or not to trust the yahoo answers I tend to find on there :-P
I was noticing mine today have a weird discoloration around them and was going to Dr Google myself.
BTW, I totally care that you don't have any on your pinkies!

Damn, I knew it. If I tell you I'm double jointed, will that make it better?
HOT cha cha :-) I'm double jointed too.

Creeepy...me too! Only its my index finger on my right hand. And both thumbs.
DD can do this with her elbows. There are a few other funny pics there that defy explaination.
Yes. I'm sorry I'm bitter.
After going through months of tests to end up with a doctor who showed me how I've always had all these different warning signs and common things among people with FMS I feel like I should spread the knowledge when I get a chance.
CT - me too!!! I only have them on my thumbs and the index finger of my left hand. So weird!!!
