He had 8 more stints put in this morning by his regular doctor after much consultation with doctors from Vanderbilt. They were able to keep him in KY in his "home" hospital; the concern was with doing open heart surgery/bypass surgery that the blood thinner he had been on would cause a bleeding issue that the doctors at Vanderbilt would be more able to handle. The three doctors consulted and decided stints would be best, but I don't love the doctor who is now officially the heart doctor (did both surgeries and sees him in the office). He is confident one day, and doesn't know the next. I know that it's all in God's hands really, but I feel like in these situations being confident is contagious - and not being confident is also contagious. After he comes out of the surgery this morning, he says to us, "I gave him the best shot I could with this but there is just a lot of coronary disease" and "Medicine is just a science; there's no guarantee" about 47 times. So none of us really know now, and the best part is that this doctor is going out of town tomorrow for a week's vacation. I don't know yet if that's good or bad for us, but I'm hoping the other doctor will be much better.
Sorry if this is rambling on and on; I just wanted to let you girls know what was going on and that we really appreciate your well wishes last week.
