My husband and I are considering changing our 4wk old from Similac to Similac Sensitive but I'm not sure what the difference is between the two. Have you used them both and noted any difference between LO's gas and/or stool? I'm scared of constipation issues with switching to a sensitive formula. We are considering the sensitive formula due to his gas and fussiness after feeding. Thanks in advance!
Re: Difference between Similac and Similac Sensitive? Please help!
I def. noticed a diff. when I switched DS....he is WAY less gassy now
there are days when he is a very little bit constipated but I don't know if that is due to the sensitive or just formula in general, and it's not been anything major, usually just a day without poo then the next he is fine (which I hear is normal anyway)
Similac sensitive is lactose is lactose free.. milk based and i believe also soy based as well.
We switched and LO did really well after about a month. It wasn't a miracle formula for us but definetely helped after he adjusted the first 2-3 weeks. He was only pooping once every 2 days with this formula, not hard but soft/wet.
My pedi said it wasn't really necessary to keep him on it since it is very rare for babies to be lactose intolerant but if it helped with gas and fussiness we could continue to use it. We did find it worked but now that he's a little older we tried him back on Good start since it's cheaper.
hth! and FWIW if you have a BJ's or Sams Club nearby they sell the bigger can for cheaper than Target, Babies R Us, or any of the food stores.
