Where do you get yours? I want to mainly go one place, and get what Nolan will need for the winter/fall (for the most part) Carters, O'sh Kosh, Children's place? I do not want to be spending a ton, but need to get basics like pants that will last if possible.
We are pretty set with Lincoln getting Nolan's hand-me downs for the next few sizes, and baby girl is ready to get through the first 6 months or so from friends, and garage sales this summer!
It seems like the older the get the less you can get used because they "use" it well!
Re: Toddler wardrobe basics
DO you have any outlets by you??!! I obviously don't have a toddler but have been shopping for baby stuff at Gap and J. Crew cuts Outlet and The Children's place/Gymboree also have outlets as well. They all have great toddler selection (way better then baby)..
Also many of these stores are having great sales right now. 50% off with coupons...i hthink I have one for the Children's Place if you want it!
Happy SHopping!!
We have a thrift store called "once upon a child". It is a national chain and they only buy good used clothes and you can get them for pretty cheap. I bought Hayden 3 pairs of used shorts for $1 each. If you don't have one of those locally, I would suggest JCPenneys. They are clearancing out a lot of things right now and you can get them pretty cheap.

For inexpensive basics, I've been happy with Kohls' Jumping Beans line. For summer, I bought knit shirts/shorts that all mix and match (makes it easy for the days DH dresses her!). Most were $3.99 and even cheaper when I had a 30% coupon. They've held up just as well as our Carters stuff and they're perfect for daycare.
I just noticed this weekend they have all the fall stuff (long sleeve tees, pants, etc.) out. I only looked at the girls, but they had some cute stuff.
Local mom's groups. 90% of G's clothes are hand-me-downs. They grow up so fast, many came still with tags on. The rest in awesome condition. Moms only put their good stuff for sale. More "used" items are given away.
I paid about $200 for G's 12-24 month wardrobe (all seasons) from various moms that included dozens of shirts (long/short-sleeved), jackets, sweaters, at least 30 pairs of pants, shorts and jammies. S2 will use them next, and I'll re-sell after we're done if they're kept in excellent condition. Donate/freecycle otherwise.
Socks and Shoes are the only things I won't get used.

I buy all of my son's jeans and pants at Old Navy -- they have adjustable waists in all pants 2T-5T and he's skinny and tall so I like that feature. I wait until they are on sale for $10 a pair and stock up on the next size.
For his PJs, I buy the 2 piece sets from ON, Gap and the Gap outlet. I stock up when I get a good coupon. They cotton is soft, the designs are cute, and they don't shrink up and get too tight after washing. Carter's pairs are always too tight in the arms, and DS can't stand footed sleepers.
For T's I like ON or Target. Always on sale. And every winter I buy him one nice sweater at Gap or Gap outlet and fill in with cheaper every day sweatershirts from Target.
For summer, he got most of his wardrobe from Target and got a batch from Grampa from Kohl's and Children's Place.
