Re: ** Christian Mommies Group **

  • Hi ladies! I'm doing ok, a little tired (and it's only Monday LOL). Hubs left yesterday for 6 weeks of training out of town, so I'm basically mortified about having the kids by myself for that long, but I know we will be ok. I also just found out that I have to go out of town for 3 days in a few weeks for work so that makes me sad. I'm hoping my mom or sister can come to town and keep the kids at my house because there is nowhere else I would feel comfortable having them stay over for that long. Please pray for us during this time.

Scripture: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1.

I'm rejoicing because I lost 3 pounds in my first week of Weight Watchers! Yay!!

  • Praying for you, happilyhis!

DH & I are struggling a bit financially right now (who isn't?)...Especially since I quit my job to stay at home with DD. All the sacrifices we've had to make are totally worth it, of course...But it's tough in this economy, and we'd really like to buy a house and get out of our small condo... Plus, DH is trying to decide whether or not to go back to school to get his master's and if so, where and what program. Please pray for this decision and our financial situation. I know that God will provide for our every need!

Scripture: Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12

I'm rejoicing because my sweet little girl is 6 months old today! :)

  • We could use some prayer. DH went in for a test for a new job. He is pretty confident he did well on the test. We just need to pray night and day that he get an interview and the job. It would really be a good step forward for our future. He does have a job now but it doesnt pay much at all. I just want to be able to know we can always provide the best for our daughter, and maybe have a nother baby if he does get the job.

    thanks

  • Hi Christian mommies! I've been noticing these posts for a few weeks and thought maybe I should join. I have a 6 month old DS, and usually post on the age boards or the working moms board.

We'll have a hectic next couple of weeks. DH is leading a group from our church on a mission trip to Kenya (where DH is from). They'll work with our home church in Mombasa for a week. He leaves Friday. DS and I will have 5 days home alone (the first time DH has had to leave us overnight), then we're flying to England for a wedding. We'll fly down to Kenya after the wedding, meet up with DH, and take DS to meet the ILs.

That's my news, prayer requests, and rejoicing topic! Smile

  • Happily, congrats on the weight loss.  :)

Things are going pretty well!  We have VBS all week and DD is so excited she is about to explode.  She couldn't even fall asleep last night.  I've been roped into teaching one of the classes today, so I'm a little nervous (I don't teach kids too often!  Mostly adults.)

Otherwise, work is going well, I'm doing a preaching series on this book

the response has been *overwhelmingly* great.  So I'm breathing a sigh of relief.  Song of Songs is tricky stuff.  ;)   So is a feminist reading of Genesis 2/3.   You know when Sunday went well when a bunch of people want you to email them your manuscript.  (I'm sounding braggy.  Bleah.  Sorry.  I'm definitely more relieved than anything!)

Anyway...   I've been up to my eyeballs in Ruth, so I'll use that whole book as my quote of the week.

    Blessings to all of you!

  • Hi girls!  I will be praying for all of your requests this week.

THANK YOU to everyone who prayed for my cousin's baby last week... she is home from the NICU and doing very well, can't wait to meet her!

Today I am rejoicing that my family will all be together this weekend for a friend's wedding.  It's not often that we are all together, and I can't wait to see them!  Also rejoicing that my DD started Vacation Bible School today; I know she will love it and I'm so happy to see her excited about learning more about Jesus.  She has been looking forward to this for weeks!

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" Philippians 4:4

  • Hello! I'm glad the topic is rejoicing, that is something I definitely need to focus on.  Today I'm rejoicing that even though my family has/is experienced some tough times, it is all part of God's great plan.  I'm definitely growing in faith!

If I could ask for some prayer...yesterday marked 3 weeks that my car hasn't worked.  We are trying to get someone to come look at it, since we don't really have money to get it towed and taken to an overpriced shop.  If you have a moment, please pray that my car is able to be fixed this week at a reasonable price.  It has become increasingly difficult to get around and DS loves to go.  I feel bad he has to be cooped up in the house, especially since our living situation isn't the best right now.  Thank you ladies!!

  • Good morning! I am rejoicing today because my mom, who has been laid off for a year, accepted a job. Phew! I'm praying it goes well. Also, we are expecting the arrival of my niece on Tuesday so I'm praying for my SIL's L&D.
  • What a great thread!!  I want to give thanks for a healthy family.  No one is sick at the moment.  We sometimes forget to be thankful when things are going well.  I want to remember to never take that for granted.

  • I agree with PP this is a great thread and a great group! I am so glad I stumbled across this!

I am tired this morning :o) I have a lot to rejoice about I am just tired and want to sleep.

I have been reading Isaiah lately and I keep coming back to this scripture and it comforts me:

"For as the rain and the snow came down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:10-11

The Lord is faithful in His promises!

    Have a beautiful week!

  • Hi girls!

Just popping in to say I'm rejoicing because we FINALLY make settlement on a house we love, in my hometown, this Friday!!!  It's been a loooong search, but you know they always say things happen for a reason and God has a plan!  Boy, do I believe it now!  We'll be in there with just a month before my due date, so enough time to get settled, we hope!! :)

  • Happily-congrats on the weight loss!!! Morocco-that is awesome so many people loved your message! Brag away! I am rejoicing this week for a healthy family, a wonderful husband, and the most beautiful, sweetest boy. I am so richly blessed.

  • Hi, I'm new to this board and I just saw this post linked on working moms.

A bit about me, I am a full time student, studying to be a midwife. So excited, but very overwhelmed. I just started at the beginning of June and we are still trying to get the balance down.

I am rejoicing greatly today, because my husband found out that he is getting a BIG raise today after two and a half years working at his job with no raises. Such an answer to prayers, especially because we had to get a second car when I started school and our main car died and had to be replaced less than two months later. So we went from no car payment to two car payments in a short time.

  • i'm a day late... wanted to give thanks again to anyone who prayed for me- i passed all my tests last week and got home safely on Th night and have had a great time with my kids and DH since - back to work tomorrow.

I was so thankful today that all 3 of my boys easily went down for their pm nap. I was so tired and had a migraine - and they were all so easy.... They usually are- but today I was especially thankful and noticed how blessed I am to have 3 wonderful boys.

    Hello All,

I tearfully watched our wedding dvd today for the first time with DD. She loved it and pointed out Mama and Dada a lot. So the scripture I wanted to share is

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth...." I Corinthians 13:1-13

I have a ct scan today to rule out anything serious. They said I would get a call today if anything was serious. I am rejoicing because I did NOT get a call! :) I love this group and I will pray for the posters and their requests.
