Fellow teacher had a 12 lb baby the other day!

She had GD, and they took him 2.5 wks earlier, b/c he was measuring big.  I don't think big is an appropriate word.

We have two great hospitals in my town, but neither is specifically designed as a neonatal unit, so he was sent to Cape Girardeau, MO b/c his lungs were underdeveloped and he is so big, that his lungs are having a hard time doing the job (that's my understanding).

He's doing well, and according to today's update the tubes and all will probably be removed Sunday or Monday.  They got to hold him yesterday.  But, they've been told to plan to be there a bit longer b/c he's going to have to learn to suck/swallow and the drs/nurses have warned them that this could be a frustrating process. 

But, he's doing well right now.

wow, 12lbs! I'm glad he's doing well.

We had a lady deliver at my work an 11 lb 7 oz baby girl and she DIDN'T have GD! The same thing happened with that baby, but ultimately the baby did well.

Hopefully, your friend's baby does well too. GL to them!
