bleeding belly button?

DD (3 weeks old) lost her stump a few days ago-but I just noticed dry blood in her belly button today...anyone ever had this happen? Is there anything you think I should do?

DD had this, too. In fact, her belly button was always kinda reddish/bloody looking just a little bit until a few months ago.  Not sure why but the pedi has never been concerned.

I'd say just keep it clean like you were a little bit and maybe put a little healing ointment in it?

Our ped used silver nitrate to cauterize DD's when it was still oozing after the stump fell off.  If it's actively bleeding, you should probably call the ped.

I was told a little bit of blood was normal for a few weeks after the stump fell off until it was completely healed up.

DD had that too and the pedi said it was totally normal to have a little bit of blood as the stump was falling off and shortly after it fell off. They said as long as it isn't ***, not to worry!
