Gagging when touching food with hands?

DS gags when he touches foods with his hands. It's happened on several occasions. Is this just weird, or what? It's happened with different foods, different textures and before it's even touched his mouth at all.

DS is 8 months and has been doing different solids since 5 months. For the past month he hasn't been as interested (is super picky) in solids and has been busy working on other things.

Anyone else have this happen?
